Over time, your Activity Log and Transaction Log can become very large as entries are added daily.  When the DigiGate program first starts up, it automatically checks all of your databases for integrity.  A very large activity database can take a long time to scan.

How do I add a "Managers" code to my system?
There are two methods you can use to decrease this time.  Both have drawbacks.
<div class="mw-collapsible-content">
+
<ol>
 +
<li>You can add an option command at the end of the shortcut that starts the DigiGate program.  This will tell the program to not check the databases on startup.  The disadvantage to this is that over time, an error may occur in the database that will require technical support assistance to fix.  To set this option, follow these steps:<br />
 +
*Close DigiGate if it is running.<br />
 +
*Locate your desktop shortcut used to launch the DigiGate program.  It's usually named "DigiGate for Windows".  Right click on the shortcut and choose "Properties".<br />
 +
*In the field Target, add on to the end of the line a space and then -nc.<br />
 +
*Click on OK to save and close the properties window.
 +
*Restart DigiGate and it should not perform the database verification.
 +
</li>
 +
<br />
 +
<li>You can "Trim" the databases to a smaller size, which makes the database verification at program startup run much faster.  The disadvantage to this is that:<br />
 +
*You lose archive access to those activities.  Typically only activities older than 30 days are removed, so this only matters if you need to look back further in time.<br />
 +
*Eventually, the logs will fill back up and you'll need to trim them again.  How quickly this happens depends on the amount of activity at your site.<br />
 +
To trim the logs, perform the following steps:<br />
 +
*In the DigiGate program, choose the Utility menu, then tab labeled Data utilities.<br />
 +
*Click on the Remove button.<br />
 +
*The date will be set to one month prior to the current date.  This operation will discard all activities from both logs that are older than the date shown.  You can adjust this if you wish.<br />
 +
*Click on OK to start the process.  Note:  This process may take several minutes to complete, depending on the size of the logs.

To change the output of any one relay on the Syscon top board, or on an old style MUX board,  follow the instructions below:<br \>

<ol>

<li>Note on the picture and drawing below, that there is a jumper on the circuit board directly above the terminals for each relay. Each jumper has 3 pins sticking up out of the board, and a black plastic “Shorting Plug” covers 2 of these pins.</li>

<li>If the plug is across the center and right pin, then the relay output for those terminals is set as "Normally Open". This is the default position as shipped from the factory.</li>

Software updates for your DigiGate system can be made available for electronic download, depending on your sales order.  If they are, you will receive an email letting you know when they are available.  To download them, follow these instructions (Note: If possible, this should be done on the PC that runs your DigiGate system):
 +
 +
<ol>
 +
<li>In the email you received there will be a link.  When you click on this link, it will open a download window in your internet browser.  Depending on your browser type (IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and your security settings, it may allow you to run the file, or you may have to save it to your PC first.  Save the file DigiDownloader.exe , if necessary, to your desktop or to the default location for your downloaded files if you use web based email, and then run it.</li>
 +
 +
<li>A console window will open and automatically download your custom setup files to your computer.</li>
 +
 +
<li>After this finishes, you may choose to run the DigiGate setup file or not.  This should only be done if the files were downloaded to the PC that is intended to use the DigiGate program.</li>
 +
 +
<li>The 3 files used for installation, Autorun.inf, DigiGate.ico and DigiGate_Setup.exe will be located on the PC in the folder C:\Digi.  These files may be saved to another location for backup purposes if you desire.</li>
 +

<li>This download program will only function one time.  Once the download is complete, the program will no longer operate.</li>

When doing a Download All Units command, you may receive an "Access Violation" error message.  This is typically a result of a corrupt record in one of two databases.  To find and eliminate this record, use these steps:
+

*Close the DigiWin program, if it is running.<br \>
+
<div style="float: right;">Hide</div>
*Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the C:\Program Files\Digigate folder.<br \>

+
*Select the button labeled "Open Database".<br \>
+
*Navigate to the authorized.db file and select it.<br \>
+
*Look for a blank entry in one of the following fields (UniqueID, TENANTNUMBER,ACCESSNUMBER,UNITNUMBER,or LASTNAME).<br \>
+
*Do the same thing for the Tenant.db file if you do not find the problem in the authorized.db<br \>
+
*When you find the line with the problem, select it and use the button with the minus symbol to delete ONLY that line.<br \>

Standalone operation is a mode of the DigiGate system that will allow the keypads to operate with any code entered if the keypads are installed in standard configurations. If the keypad is plugged into slot 1 on the Keypad Board it will fire the number 1 relay on the IO board when any code is entered.  This can be valuable if there are Syscon or Software Problems with the system. The keypads will operate independently of the software configuration and assigned codes.  LX and LC keypads can also be placed in standalone mode, with the caveat that the relay they are assigned to activate must be on the same keypad and not a relay on a different board somewhere else in the system.

The old style "Matrix" multiplexers have been discontinued since 2005, but are still in use by some sites.  If one goes bad, it must be replaced by a Unimux multiplexer that has matrix style door alarm daughterboards installed.

I want my Exit Keypad to stop working at closing time.  How do I set this?
+
To replace the matrix mux, follow these steps:
<div class="mw-collapsible-content">
+

 +
#Disconnect the power supply for the MUX box at the power supply location. This is generally a 16.5VAC plug in transformer.<br \>
 +
#Disconnect the two incoming power wires at the plug P1 on the matrix board.<br \>
 +
#Disconnect any RS485 data wires connected to the surge suppresser located in the bottom left corner of the enclosure.<br \>
 +
#Label each door trunk cable as A ( pins 1-10 ), B ( 11-20 ), C ( 31-40 ), or D ( 41 – 50 ), depending on the plug in which they are connected, then unplug them from the board. (Do not disconnect the wires from the plugs).<br \>
 +
#Label and disconnect any wires that are connected to the outputs of the 6 relays on the old board. ( Label them RLY1, RLY2, etc. )<br \>
 +
#Disconnect and remove the rechargeable lead-acid battery from the enclosure.<br \>
 +
#Disconnect the green ground wire from the enclosure.<br \>
 +
#Note the MUX address of the old board. This address is labeled on the chip in the center of the board.<br \>
 +
#Remove the old board from it’s enclosure, then remove the enclosure from the wall. If possible, feed the trunk line wires out with the wires still attached to the plugs, to make reconnection to the Unimux daughterboards easier.<br \>
 +
#Place the new Unimux enclosure in the position that was occupied by the old Matrix board. Open up the appropriate knockouts to feed in the wires. Note that because of the different positions of the connections inside the new enclosure, more cable distance may be needed to plug in the connectors. This may require repositioning of the enclosure or pulling in more slack on the cables. As a last resort it may be necessary to extend the cable length. If extension of the cable is needed, make sure to perform good splices of all wires.<br \>
 +
#Note: The shield wire for both the incoming and outgoing RS485 cables should be connected to the Unimux motherboard. This is different than the old matrix MUX which only had the outgoing cable’s shield connected. Do Not connect the shields to the case of the Unimux box.<br \>
 +
#Connect the RS485 lines to the Unimux motherboard. Connect the incoming RS-485 Bus cable to the RS-485 connector (Plug P2) as shown below. Make sure that the red wire is connected to positive (1), and the black to negative (2). Connect the bare shield wire to terminal 3. If there is no outgoing RS-485 line (this Unimux is the last device on the RS-485 Bus) then the termination switch (SW5, a small switch located just to the right of the plug) should be set to TERM’D.
 +
#If there is an outgoing line to another RS-485 device, connect it to Plug P2 as shown below. Connect the red wire to positive (4), and the black to negative (5). Connect the bare shield wire to terminal 6. The termination switch (SW5) should be set to OPEN.<br \>
 +
#Set the address switches for this Unimux. This is the address of the old MUX that you noted in step 8. The RS-485 address of the motherboard is set using two rotary switches. Each board on the system has a unique address, and cannot have the same address as another board. Setting two boards to the same address will cause the DigiGate system to operate incorrectly.
 +
#Switch SW1 sets the “ones” digit of the address, and SW2 sets the “tens” digit. In the picture below, the board is set to MUX address # 6. Use a small screwdriver to point the arrow of the rotary switch towards the correct numbers for your UnimUX. Note: Changing the switch settings while the Unimux is powered up will have no effect until the Unimux is powered down and then back on, or until the RESET button is pressed.  Note: The 4 DIP switches on SW3, located just to the right of the address switches, should all be set to the OFF position.<br \>
 +
#Connect any relay wires to their appropriate relay. Relays (1) + (2) are located on the motherboard. Relays (3) through (6) are on a relay daughterboard in position E. Note that the relays on the new Unimux have 3 connections. Common, Normally Open and Normally Closed. Use the common connection, plus the other connection depending on what type of device you are connecting.Note: Connection of voltages higher than 24 volts to the Relays is not allowed. If control of high voltage circuits (such as lights) is required, an isolation relay must be installed externally from the Unimux, and the Unimux relay (with an appropriate power supply) used to energize the low voltage coil of the isolation relay.<br \>
 +
#Connect the door alarm trunk lines to their respective daughterboards ( A, B, C or D ). Depending on the site layout, some of the daughterboards may not be used. If you were able to keep the plugs on the ends of the cables, you can just remove the empty plugs on the daughterboards and plug in the old plugs in their place, in pins 1 through 10 (Leave pin 11 empty).<br \>

#Note: Do not connect any wire to pins (ten) or (eleven) of the daughterboard. Note: There will be a spare wire (Gray color) on each trunk line. This wire is taped to the trunk line. Do not connect it to anything.<br \>
 +
#Connect the green ground wire inside the Unimux to a low resistance earth ground at the mux location. This ground may be the metal frame of the building, an electrical panel, or a 6’ ground rod. This wire should be as short as possible, and in no case longer than 10 feet.<br \>
 +
#Once all other connections are finished, connect the incoming power wire to plug P1 as shown below.<br \>
 +
#Note: The label on the board says 12VDC / 12VAC, however the 16.5VAC power supply that was used for the old MUX will work fine. If you use AC power, there will be no battery backup of the board. To backup the power for this board will require the use of either a UPS, or a Digitech Zoned Battery Backup power supply. Both of these devices are to be installed indoors only. See the end of these instructions for more information about the zoned power supply.<br \>
 +
#Restore the connection at the power supply end. Once powered up, the LCD screen of the Unimux will display it’s power up reset screen.<br \>

The Tamper switch state, and on / off state of the two motherboard relays (R1 + R2) is also shown.<br \>
 +
#Press the RIGHT button once. The screen will now display the status for daughterboard #1 as shown below. Note: The daughterboard for the screen shown below has all 20 doors connected and closed. Each site is different. Trunk cables will have different amounts of doors connected, depending on the site layout, and the status screens will be different. You should refer to the MUX / SLOT report for this site to determine exactly which unit door is connected to a specific slot.<br \>

Over time, your Activity LogThe display window in the DigiGate program that shows the activities that occur at the system. For example: Code entries, bad passwords, alarms, doors opened and closed. etc. Can also refer to the program's database file that stores this information. and Transaction LogDatabase that keeps track of activities that happen at the PC. For example: Move in's, move out's, made delinquent, paid up, etc. can become very large as entries are added daily. When the DigiGate program first starts up, it automatically checks all of your databases for integrity. A very large activity database can take a long time to scan.

There are two methods you can use to decrease this time. Both have drawbacks.

  1. You can add an option command at the end of the shortcut that starts the DigiGate program. This will tell the program to not check the databases on startup. The disadvantage to this is that over time, an error may occur in the database that will require technical support assistance to fix. To set this option, follow these steps:
    • Close DigiGate if it is running.
    • Locate your desktop shortcut used to launch the DigiGate program. It's usually named "DigiGate for Windows". Right click on the shortcut and choose "Properties".
    • In the field Target, add on to the end of the line a space and then -nc.
      DigiGate Shortcut Properties.png

    • Click on OK to save and close the properties window.
    • Restart DigiGate and it should not perform the database verification.

  2. You can "Trim" the databases to a smaller size, which makes the database verification at program startup run much faster. The disadvantage to this is that:
    • You lose archive access to those activities. Typically only activities older than 30 days are removed, so this only matters if you need to look back further in time.
    • Eventually, the logs will fill back up and you'll need to trim them again. How quickly this happens depends on the amount of activity at your site.
To trim the logs, perform the following steps:
    • In the DigiGate program, choose the Utility menu, then tab labeled Data utilities.
    • Click on the Remove button.
      DigiGate Trim Logs.png

    • The date will be set to one month prior to the current date. This operation will discard all activities from both logs that are older than the date shown. You can adjust this if you wish.
    • Click on OK to start the process. Note: This process may take several minutes to complete, depending on the size of the logs.

A "Managers" code is used by the manager to enter and exit the facility without being assigned to a regular unit. To add this code, do the following:

  • In the DigiWin program, choose the "Setup" button then the "UnitAn individual space or room that can be rented to a user and is generally off limits to other users. Setup" Tab, then the "Add Units" button.
  • Put in the same unit for starting and ending unit and click OK. Be sure to use a unit that does not exist in your accounting program. As shown in the example below, MANAGE makes a good unit number.
    DigiWin Add Manager Code.png

  • Go back to the main menu and choose the "Move In" button. Type the unit number that you used above into the unit number field.
  • In the menu that comes up, type in anything you want for first and last name.
  • Select the "Access" Tab and type in your access code, choose a time zone and keypad zone and click OK. The initial managers code should be the one used by the manager of the facility and therefore have a 24 hour time zone and "All Keypads" Keypad ZoneA programming setup that defines where on a site that someone assigned the zone is allowed access. All sites have a default "All Keypads" Keypad Zone that permits use of all access devices on the facility. Additional zones are added depending on the needs of the site..
  • When it asks if you want to "Link Units" choose "NO".

The code is now in the system. If you want to change it later, pull the unit up with the Digigate FIND button, choose the Access tab and you can edit the access code and choose OK.

If you want to add more codes for people that do not actually have a unit on the facility but need access, such as district managers, the groundskeeper, waste management, police, etc. then perform the following actions:

  • In the DigiWin main menu, click on the "Find" button. Click on the "Authorized" Tab.
  • Click on the "New" button. Enter a first name, last name, access number, Time ZoneA programming setup that defines when a tenant is allowed access to a site. To adjust the system time use the following steps:

  • Select the Utility Button in the Digiwin main menu.
  • Select the Date/Time button. Ensure the time showing is correct. Note: This will display the current computer time. If this is not correct, adjust the time.
  • Once the correct time is displayed, choose the OK button at the bottom. A window will come up saying "Set ControllerTerm for the Falcon XT, Falcon Base Unit, or Master Security computer that ‘controls’ AI Devices. Date and Time". choose "Yes". This will adjust the Syscon time.

To change the output of any one relay on the Syscon top board, or on an old style MUXDoor Alarm Multiplexers take multiple inputs from individual door contacts and convert them to a single output back to the controller. Camera Multiplexers are similar in that they take multiple inputs from different cameras and create a single output back to the recorder. board, follow the instructions below:
  1. Note on the picture and drawing below, that there is a jumper on the circuit board directly above the terminals for each relay. Each jumper has 3 pins sticking up out of the board, and a black plastic “Shorting Plug” covers 2 of these pins.
  2. If the plug is across the center and right pin, then the relay output for those terminals is set as "Normally Open". This is the default position as shipped from the factory.
  3. To change the relay output for one particular set of 2 terminals, use a pair of needle nose pliers, and move the shorting plug for those terminals to the CENTER and LEFT pins.
    • Note: Relay outputs on 700LX and 700LC keypads, as well as the UniMux, have three terminals for each relay (Common, NO and NC) and therefore do not have jumpers for setting their configuration.

After a Syscon has been reset and it's setup information loaded into it, you need to download all of the tenant names and codes before the keypads will accept those codes.

  • In the [DigiWin] program, open the "Utilities" menu.
  • Select the "DownloadTo copy information from a main source or computer into a peripheral, for example copying a file from the internet into your local computer. All" button. Click "OK" when prompted.
    DigiWin-Utilities-CSD.png

  • A progress screen will show the units that are having their codes sent to the controller. These units are displayed in the order they were moved into the program, so they generally will not show in alphanumeric order.

Software updates for your DigiGate system can be made available for electronic download, depending on your sales order. If they are, you will receive an email letting you know when they are available. To download them, follow these instructions (Note: If possible, this should be done on the PC that runs your DigiGate system):

  1. In the email you received there will be a link. When you click on this link, it will open a download window in your internet browser. Depending on your browser type (IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and your security settings, it may allow you to run the file, or you may have to save it to your PC first. Save the file DigiDownloader.exe , if necessary, to your desktop or to the default location for your downloaded files if you use web based email, and then run it.
  2. A console window will open and automatically download your custom setup files to your computer.
  3. After this finishes, you may choose to run the DigiGate setup file or not. This should only be done if the files were downloaded to the PC that is intended to use the DigiGate program.
  4. The 3 files used for installation, Autorun.inf, DigiGate.ico and DigiGate_Setup.exe will be located on the PC in the folder C:\Digi. These files may be saved to another location for backup purposes if you desire.
  5. This download program will only function one time. Once the download is complete, the program will no longer operate.
  6. In addition, the download will only be available for 30 days after the email is sent. If the download has not been completed by the 31st day, the files will be removed from the server and will need to be re-ordered.

A "Cold Start" message means that the Syscon has reset for some reason. This will cause the system to lose all memory of its setups and access codes.

Use the following troubleshooting steps for spontaneous cold starts:

Note: because of the default date of Dec 1990 that the cold start gives, you cannot use the printable activity log to see this happening, but it will show on the activity log pulled up from the Utility button in the Digigate MenuA list of commands or options that the user can choose from..

  • Ensure Syscon is grounded. The ground bus on the controller should be grounded to a good earth ground.
  • If your system is not using a UPSProvides power surge protection, power conditioning, and battery backup. Recommended for all computers, including Site Graphics (if present). (battery backup), it is strongly suggested that you use one. If you are using one, be sure it is functioning properly. Unplug it from the wall outlet and see that the Syscon is still getting power.
  • The syscon board (lower board in the controller box) has a 3 VDC battery located center lower portion of the board (+B1 written on the board above it). Check it with a voltmeter and be sure it is close to 3 VDC. If it's less than 2.8 VDC, replace it. You can bring it to radio shack etc. and get a like item. While you are checking the battery, check your voltage at pins 4/5 on the p1 plug, same board (the red/black wire). The voltage should be around 12 VDC with the controller powered up. Also ensure the J3 jumper at the upper part of this board, to the right of the reset button, is firmly covering both pins.
  • While you are checking the voltage, look real carefully at all the IC chips on the Syscon board and push down on them to be sure they have not wiggled a bit out of their sockets. This can cause intermittant cold starts. Especially the Syscon BIOS Chip (U11), and also chips U2 and U17 on some models.
  • If none of the above, then you may have the Syscon board itself going bad.

  • Place Digigate 700 KPs in standalone by first pushing the reset button on the lower board of the Syscon. You should hear a "click" from the Syscon when this is done. You then power the Syscon off and on. You can do this by unscrewing and disconnecting the power connector (silver and round) from the bottom right of the System ControllerTerm for the Falcon XT, Falcon Base Unit, or Master Security computer that ‘controls’ AI Devices. box. Wait about 10 seconds and reattach the connector.
  • LX and LC keypads can be placed in standalone after resetting the Syscon. Reset each keypad by removing power to it for 10 seconds then reconnecting power.
  • To take the system out of standalone, follow the process to set the Syscon.
  • Note: Standalone mode is meant to be an emergency operation mode only. Devices in standalone will work with any code at all, provided it is in the correct format. Codes will also work at any time.

"Setting" the Syscon is done to transfer all information about a sites setups from the PC to the Syscon. The setups are such things as how many keypads the system has, which keypad operates which device, door alarm settings, etc.

  • In the [DigiWin] program, open the "Utilities" menu.
  • Reset the Syscon by selecting the button labeled "Clear Syscon". Click "Yes" if prompted.
    DigiWin-Utilities-CSD.png

  • Wait for the Activity LogThe display window in the DigiGate program that shows the activities that occur at the system. For example: Code entries, bad passwords, alarms, doors opened and closed. etc. Can also refer to the program's database file that stores this information. to display the "Cold Start" message.
  • Select the button labeled "Set ControllerTerm for the Falcon XT, Falcon Base Unit, or Master Security computer that ‘controls’ AI Devices.". choose "OK" when prompted.
  • The screen will display the download progress of the setup items, and the unit numbers, into the Syscon. Note: Depending on the amount of setups and units you have, you may see the progress stop momentarily. This is normal and it should continue after a minute or so.
  • When this is finished, wait for the Activity LogThe display window in the DigiGate program that shows the activities that occur at the system. For example: Code entries, bad passwords, alarms, doors opened and closed. etc. Can also refer to the program's database file that stores this information. to update. You should see an online message for each board in your system. You may also see messages related to Time Zones, Alarm Zones, and other setups.
  • The information downloaded does not include the access codes for the tenants. Those are transferred to the Syscon using the "Download All" command.

Avast Antivirus may delete and quarantine various programs needed for the DigiGate system to work correctly. To stop it from doing this, perform the following steps:

  • Open the Avast program.
  • Select scan and the quarantine at the bottom. This will give a listing of files Avast has quarantined.
  • Right click on the files "Digisend.exe" and / or "Diginet.exe" if they are listed, and choose "Restore". Note: There is a restore and add to exclusions but do not use it as it does not always work.
  • Go back to the Avast main MenuA list of commands or options that the user can choose from..
  • Select "Settings".
  • Select "Active Protection".
  • Select "File System Shield".
  • Select "Exclusions" and browse to the "C:\Digi" folder and add the whole folder as an exclusion by selecting the "Add" button. choose "OK".
  • Using "Exclusions" again, browse to the "C:\Program Files\DigiGate" folder and add the whole folder as an exclusion by selecting the "Add" button. choose "OK".

The old style "Matrix" multiplexers have been discontinued since 2005, but are still in use by some sites. If one goes bad, it must be replaced by a Unimux multiplexer that has matrix style door alarm daughterboards installed.

To replace the matrix mux, follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect the power supply for the MUXDoor Alarm Multiplexers take multiple inputs from individual door contacts and convert them to a single output back to the controller. Camera Multiplexers are similar in that they take multiple inputs from different cameras and create a single output back to the recorder. box at the power supply location. This is generally a 16.5VAC plug in transformer.
  2. Disconnect the two incoming power wires at the plug P1 on the matrix board.
  3. Disconnect any RS485A type of communications used for electronic devices. Generally, limited to four thousand total feet of wire length. Used for connecting the Falcon XT to AI Devices. data wires connected to the surge suppresser located in the bottom left corner of the enclosure.
    Matrix Replacement-1.png

  4. Label each door trunk cable as A ( pins 1-10 ), B ( 11-20 ), C ( 31-40 ), or D ( 41 – 50 ), depending on the plug in which they are connected, then unplug them from the board. (Do not disconnect the wires from the plugs).
    Matrix Replacement-2.png

  5. Label and disconnect any wires that are connected to the outputs of the 6 relays on the old board. ( Label them RLY1, RLY2, etc. )
  6. Disconnect and remove the rechargeable lead-acid battery from the enclosure.
  7. Disconnect the green ground wire from the enclosure.
  8. Note the MUXDoor Alarm Multiplexers take multiple inputs from individual door contacts and convert them to a single output back to the controller. Camera Multiplexers are similar in that they take multiple inputs from different cameras and create a single output back to the recorder. address of the old board. This address is labeled on the chip in the center of the board.
    Matrix Replacement-3.png

  9. Remove the old board from it’s enclosure, then remove the enclosure from the wall. If possible, feed the trunk line wires out with the wires still attached to the plugs, to make reconnection to the Unimux daughterboards easier.
  10. Place the new Unimux enclosure in the position that was occupied by the old Matrix board. If extension of the cable is needed, make sure to perform good splices of all wires.
    Matrix Replacement-4.png

  11. Note: The shield wire for both the incoming and outgoing RS485A type of communications used for electronic devices. Generally, limited to four thousand total feet of wire length. Used for connecting the Falcon XT to AI Devices. cables should be connected to the Unimux motherboard. This is different than the old matrix MUXDoor Alarm Multiplexers take multiple inputs from individual door contacts and convert them to a single output back to the controller. Camera Multiplexers are similar in that they take multiple inputs from different cameras and create a single output back to the recorder. which only had the outgoing cable’s shield connected. Do Not connect the shields to the case of the Unimux box.
  12. Connect the RS485A type of communications used for electronic devices. Generally, limited to four thousand total feet of wire length. Used for connecting the Falcon XT to AI Devices. lines to the Unimux motherboard.
  13. If there is an outgoing line to another RS-485 device, connect it to Plug P2 as shown below. Connect the red wire to positive (4), and the black to negative (5). Connect the bare shield wire to terminal 6. The termination switch (SW5) should be set to OPEN.
    Matrix Replacement-5.png

  14. Set the address switches for this Unimux. This is the address of the old MUXDoor Alarm Multiplexers take multiple inputs from individual door contacts and convert them to a single output back to the controller. Camera Multiplexers are similar in that they take multiple inputs from different cameras and create a single output back to the recorder. that you noted in step 8. The RS-485 address of the motherboard is set using two rotary switches. Each board on the system has a unique address, and cannot have the same address as another board. Setting two boards to the same address will cause the DigiGate system to operate incorrectly.
  15. Switch SW1 sets the “ones” digit of the address, and SW2 sets the “tens” digit. In the picture below, the board is set to MUXDoor Alarm Multiplexers take multiple inputs from individual door contacts and convert them to a single output back to the controller. Camera Multiplexers are similar in that they take multiple inputs from different cameras and create a single output back to the recorder. address # 6. Use a small screwdriver to point the arrow of the rotary switch towards the correct numbers for your UnimUX. Note: Changing the switch settings while the Unimux is powered up will have no effect until the Unimux is powered down and then back on, or until the RESET button is pressed. Note: The 4 DIP switches on SW3, located just to the right of the address switches, should all be set to the OFF position.
    Matrix Replacement-6.png

  16. Connect any relay wires to their appropriate relay. Relays (1) + (2) are located on the motherboard. Relays (3) through (6) are on a relay daughterboardModules that are installed in a Digitech Unimux. There are 3 different types of daughterboards, each with a different function. in position E. Note that the relays on the new Unimux have 3 connections. Common, Normally Open and Normally Closed. Use the common connection, plus the other connection depending on what type of device you are connecting.Note: Connection of voltages higher than 24 volts to the Relays is not allowed. If control of high voltage circuits (such as lights) is required, an isolation relay must be installed externally from the Unimux, and the Unimux relay (with an appropriate power supply) used to energize the low voltage coil of the isolation relay.
    Matrix Replacement-7.png

  17. Connect the door alarm trunk lines to their respective daughterboards ( A, B, C or D ). Depending on the site layout, some of the daughterboards may not be used. If you were able to keep the plugs on the ends of the cables, you can just remove the empty plugs on the daughterboards and plug in the old plugs in their place, in pins 1 through 10 (Leave pin 11 empty).
    Matrix Replacement-8.png
    Matrix Replacement-9.png

  18. Note: Do not connect any wire to pins (ten) or (eleven) of the daughterboardModules that are installed in a Digitech Unimux. There are 3 different types of daughterboards, each with a different function.. Note: There will be a spare wire (Gray color) on each trunk line. This wire is taped to the trunk line. Do not connect it to anything.
  19. Connect the green ground wire inside the Unimux to a low resistance earth ground at the mux location. This ground may be the metal frame of the building, an electrical panel, or a 6’ ground rod. This wire should be as short as possible, and in no case longer than 10 feet.
  20. Once all other connections are finished, connect the incoming power wire to plug P1 as shown below.
    Matrix Replacement-10.png

  21. Note: The label on the board says 12VDC / 12VAC, however the 16.5VAC power supply that was used for the old MUXDoor Alarm Multiplexers take multiple inputs from individual door contacts and convert them to a single output back to the controller. Camera Multiplexers are similar in that they take multiple inputs from different cameras and create a single output back to the recorder. will work fine. If you use AC power, there will be no battery backup of the board. To backup the power for this board will require the use of either a UPSProvides power surge protection, power conditioning, and battery backup. Recommended for all computers, including Site Graphics (if present)., or a Digitech Zoned Battery BackupAn electronic file containing historical events, data, and setup information for a site. This should be kept in a separate off-site location to allow the quick repair of a site in case of catastrophic data loss such as physical destruction of the computer or office, computer crash, employee error, etc. power supply. Both of these devices are to be installed indoors only. See the end of these instructions for more information about the zoned power supply.
  22. Restore the connection at the power supply end. Once powered up, the LCD screen of the Unimux will display it’s power up reset screen.
    Matrix Replacement-11.png

  23. There are 4 pushbuttons, located at the bottom right corner of the motherboard. Press the Down button to advance to the next menu.
  24. The next screen will display similar to the one shown below. The ADDR will reflect the board address that was set in step 15. VER shows the software version presently installed on this Unimux. The Tamper switch state, and on / off state of the two motherboard relays (R1 + R2) is also shown.
    Matrix Replacement-12.png

  25. Press the RIGHT button once. The screen will now display the status for daughterboardModules that are installed in a Digitech Unimux.
