When PTI ships out a system with wireless transmitters, they will all have been "pre-learned" into the wireless receiver and head end unit so that installation is quicker and easier.

Occasionally there will be a need to add a transmitter to the system in the field, either to replace an existing bad transmitter, or installing on to new units.

Each transmitter has a unique identification number which is programmed in to the transmitter. This ID number is assigned to a "ChannelIndividual input point on a multiplexer, Apex keypad, or XT that allows a door alarm sensor or contact to be connected to the system. One channel equals one door." in the wireless multiplexer, so that when its state changes, the multiplexer knows which channel changed. In the StorLogix software, the channel is assigned to a unit.

  1. Locate your Wireless MultiplexerDoor Alarm Multiplexers take multiple inputs from individual door contacts and convert them to a single output back to the controller. Camera Multiplexers are similar in that they take multiple inputs from different cameras and create a single output back to the recorder. and the TRL8080 unit. Open the case of the TRL8080 so that you can see the circuit boards. Open the case of the new transmitter(s).
  2. Repeatedly press the * key on the multiplexers keypad, until the "REGISTER A SINGLE DOOR TRANSMITTER" item is displayed, then press the # key.
  3. The multiplexer will ask for the channel number to register. If replacing a transmitter, use the existing channel that the unit is assigned to. If adding a transmitter, use the next available unused channel number. (Note that the current channel assignments can be viewed in the StorLogix setups.)
  4. If channel was previously used (you are replacing a transmitter) then the multiplexer will ask if you want to re-register the channel. Press the * key to approve.
  5. Inside the TRL8080, press the pushbutton labeled "A REG".
  6. The LCD screen of the multiplexer should say "PRESS RESET ON THE TRANSMITTER FOR CHANNEL XXX".
  7. Press the "RESET" button inside the new transmitter. This is located on the circuit board just above the battery and just to the right of the spring operated tamper switch.
  8. The multiplexer will see the incoming reset signal from the new transmitter, and assigns it to the channel specified. The LCD screen should display "CHANNEL XXX HAS BEEN REGISTERED". You should affix a small label to the back or side of the transmitter, and note which channel it has been assigned. DO NOT write on the case itself.
  9. Press the # key to continue. If you have more transmitters to change or add, go back to step 3. Otherwise, press the # key again to exit out of the learn mode.

When finished, replace all covers that were removed. If adding new transmitters, you will need to assign the channels that were added to the appropriate units in StorLogix setups.
